Check the Canon USA website.
It says the G10 will have a 5x lens , not 8 as reported here.

I was glad to see that they corrected 2 of the 4 major shortcomings of the G9 by adding a better grip (a third party thumb rest on the rear will still be useful) and at least an electronic cable release. The position of the optical viewfinder and the built-in flash are still too close to the lens, especially if you use the adapter for filters or accessory lens, the optical viewfinger and built-in flash become useless because of a significant blockage of their field of view. If they could just make the built-in flash a pop-up flash and move the optical viewfinder farther away from the lens.

I would love to see something like a digital canonet, a 35mm f1.7 L glass lens, a full frame sensor, an optical viewfinder.Am I the only one with these wild dreams?

i'd love to see the g10 have swappable lenses like the leica m8. i'd also like a better viewfinder with more information so the lcd could be switched off and if they're going to continue with the inplace lcd, a cover for it.

PopPhoto had a short article on the G10 yesterday, but promptly removed it. It was probably a premature announcement that Canon requested be removed.
The specs mentioned above seem accurate, except maybe for the 8x optical zoom part. If I remember correctly, the focal length range mentioned in the PopPhoto article was only 28-112mm, or 4x optical zoom.

I'm not fimiliar with this site, but it's the only one so far that's verifing for a fact that the G10 will be out in September. Did you get that info from a legit source, photokina's show dates, or Canon's trend of Aug/Sep release dates?
