Based on latest news, Google will decide a portion of their financial asset for funding their project of Google Tablet. After it has been reported about delay a week ago, it looks they found clear idea to do immediately. It seems Google will throw out brother of Kindle Fire that success in market today by creating new Google Tablet with low-cost tablet, but provide high utility as portable device. Meanwhile, Apple has passed 3 M selling of the new iPad series on the market. I’m curious whether Google jump into the existing market or they have different target of consumers. Still mysterious about the device, it will come out with the Nexus name or others such as Asus and Samsung as it was reported Google doing some collaboration to generate tablet device 7-inch at in between $149 and $249. However, the key point of it, Google will promote the selling of new Google device directly to the markets without assistance from third party. FYI, this new Google Pad will has a Tegra 3 quad-core processor, 7-inch and Wi-Fi for its connectivity. Accordingly, the processor is more superior than Google’s competitors. I hope they are carefully when decide to hit the market where Apple has stand up on there.

Mozilla, the Internet giant who creates the renowned Firefox browser, is planning to spread its wings by coming up with an operating sytem that is completely on an open-source basis. The platform is called Boot2Gecko, and it is a mobile platform that will be utilized from its single user interface called Gaia. Gaia will be displayed on top complete with its icons, all of which are built with JavaScript and HTML, with the middle portion called “Gecko”, which is a rendering engine, and at the bottom of the interface, there is “Gonk”, which is a collection of the essential components that power the whole show.

The magical component of all these interfaces is that the components in the Boot2Gecko environment are all able to be made and work just in a basic web browser. This can be the desktop, tablet or even smartphone based basic browser. The whole idea of this is to perhaps link all the entire mobile operating system realm together with one united system. Even better, Mozilla says that there is a possibility that this unique operating system will be launched as early as in the second quarter of 2012!

What is sure is that Mozilla will face intense competition from the plethora of other mobile operating systems out there, ranging from Windows Phone, the Blackberry, Android and iOS to name a few of them. It remains to be seen how Mozilla can produce successful batch of Gecko operating system, although we must admit that their innovation of Firefox browser trumped the popularity of the traditional Internet Explorer in the past.

Gamers have all the reasons to cheer on Valentine’s Day because there are strong signs that HTC can be the first company, other than Sony itself, to offer mobile devices that are PlayStation certified. This means that some game titles that were previously restricted to Sony’s own handsets such as the XPERIA Play can be found in future HTC tablets and phones. The rumours seem to suggest that the official announcement about this partnership can be done as early as later this month in the Mobile World Congress, with the full certification of HTC devices carried out in the second half of this year. This speculation is not entirely a surprise as Sony itself has already confirmed in late 2011 that it was entering negotiations with other mobile firms to offer PlayStation gaming in their devices.

At that time, Sony’s Kaz Hirai, who is now the overall CEO of the company, was quoted as saying that the PlayStation Suite platform “isn’t an ecosystem where we want to keep everything within the Sony family.” He instead aims it to be Sony’s first “cross-platform endeavour” which means that he and his team are planning to bring it to other brands as well. So far, the PlayStation Suite is limited to only Sony and Sony Ericsson hardware such as their gaming smartphone. The certification has however been extended to include other Sony devices such as the Sony’s Tablet S and Tablet P hardware, which give the users the ability to access the PlayStation download store to load their devices with PSOne gaming titles.

This answers some curiosity about Sony’s business moves of whether Sony would try to sell customers all of the hardware – namely computer, TV, phone and tablet – as part of its “four-screen” strategy, or whether it would try to form alliance with other companies to expand Sony across the different platforms. It seems that this diversification strategy is taken to turn Sony’s fortunes around and to fill in potential gaps in its hardware line-up in the gaming and technology industry today.

The invitations have not been sent out yet but there are rift speculations that Tim cook is going to whip out this new gadget in an official announcement next month. It is believed that Apple is producing a smaller 8-inch size of iPad to accompany the iPad 2 which is 9.7 inches in size. Sources have been excited by this prospect and said that Apple has sent this new gadget to several Asia countries for initial testing. It is believed that the new iPad will have a resolution close to the 1024 x 768 display that can be found in the current iPad model. Furthermore, the new gadget is speculated to also feature a Retina Display technology, and that the test panels are still being produced by LG Display and AU Optronics. This model is touted to be able to run on LTE system. However, it is common for Apple in the past to produce new prototypes in various dimensions and sizes, but these gadgets never made it to the mainstream market, so if you are excited about this, please do not hold your hopes too high yet.

Apple has certainly grown significantly over the past few years. We have seen creative gadgets produced by Apple, from iPod to iPhone and then the revolutionary iPad. Now, we are sensing a potential Apple HDTV in the market soon enough to complete your house collection of Apple gadgets.

There is a rumour today that the Apple HDTV is apparently already in the testing stage in Canada by two of the nation’s broadband providers. The Globe and Mail website has heard from anonymous sources that the new Apple iTV is now being tested by both the Rogers and Bell in Canada because of their attractive internet offerings. Furthermore, the Globe and Mail paper also reported that Apple’s flatscreen HDTV is complemented with the renowned Siri which will give potential viewing suggestions, video chat, new hand gesture controls and on-screen keyboard for the TV. These exciting features are in line with what some of you might have heard before. Only this time, there is a high possibility that we can expect Apple HDTV to reach your home very soon, instead of it being just a passing rumour.

Today, Google has officially announced that it will start the rollout of its Google Fiber network in various US cities such as Kansas city in Missouri and Kansas City in Kansas. The plan was delayed for some time because of slight disagreement with the city local officials about how the thousands of miles of wires would be hung throughout the two cities without jeopardizing the cities’ aesthetic layout. The first part of the plan is to focus on the network’s backbone to ensure that it can deliver high speed efficiently, and then Google will shift its focus onto connecting various homes and businesses in the two cities to its gigabit network, which is promised to be 100 times faster than the average high speed connection in the US. However, since the plan is still in its inception stage, there is no indication as to when the residents in the two cities can start to enjoy reaping the benefits of this new technology.

The first one is the portable charger PCH-ZPC1 J, which weighs just 135 g or 4.8 ounces, and it takes about seven hours for it to fully charge until its maximum 5000 mAh capacity. This is equivalent to about one and a half charges of the PS Vita console, which is approximated to be able to power the console for up to 12 hours of mixed-use sessions, or a long-lasting seven hours of very solid gaming experience. The pricing has also been announced on the website, with the price tag of PCH-ZPC1 J at ¥4,500 ($60) for the release date of April 5th this year. Meanwhile, the car charger PCH-ZCA1 J will be shipped to Japan shops a few weeks earlier on march 22nd, and this charger is priced at ¥1,500 ($20). This will be useful if you are planning to bring PS Vita on a long road trip, so that you can keep your PS Vita alive during your journey to keep you out of boredom. Just in case you have not known a very vital information yet, the release date for the PS Vita in the US and Europe is just two more weeks, on the February 22nd!

Most of us know how useful Dropbox has been. Gone are the days where we require USB to transport our files, as Dropbox takes over as portable media storage. One good news today for all the Dropboxers out there is that the company is currently offering a package of free storage space to any Dropbox user who wants to try the beta version of its latest Experimental software. The way it works is really simple : user can just download the test program, upload a photo to it and they will immediately be rewarded with 500 MB of free storage at Dropbox. Not only that, if the user uploads another photo or video to the program, they will immediately get another 500 MB for their action. The idea behind this generous plan is to try out the beta software’s new video and photo uploader, which can automatically pull out data from any smarphone, camera or SD card, and then put these files onto the cloud. There is a limit bonus of 5 GB per user, and there is an underlying risk to testing this new unfinished product. However, those who are tempted with the reward can immediately sign up or find more information about this interesting deal package at the Dropbox service.

The US government has entered an agreement to make use of Google’s mobile operating system, the Android, for future secure phones this week and it has promised that updates will be released within 2 weeks time. This is a significant improvement because every time Google comes up with new updates on the most basic structure of Android, it may take up to six months before new legacy devices are updated to the current speed. The shortest time of the installation of the updates is observed to be several weeks so far. However, the information-security director working at George Mason University, Angelos Stavrou, who is also part of the US project, has said that his team can get this done in just 14 days maximum.

This vast improvement would certainly bewilder most of the Android users, but given that it is the US government itself that has released this unexpected statement, we can expect a hard-working research team behind this plan. There must also be contribution from the manufacturers and the carriers themselves, who are responsible to formulate the new software in the new units one by one once the latest version of the Android operating system is released. Then they have to work with the carriers to blanket all the softwares again with their own unique applications. It is usually this process that needs to take weeks or even months.

The new thing is that the government will only choose specific devices to work with, and they will be handing out the software as well together with the carriers. This process will take a shorter time because the US government can get around the red tapes or bureaucracy that is the main cause of the long delay. Nevertheless, we can expect a significant improvement in the coming weeks for Android devices.
